THE AIRPLANE TOUCHED DOWN MORE THAN 1,650 FEET DOWN THE 2,900-FOOT RUNWAY, AND THE PILOT WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE AIRPLANE BEFORE IT TRAVELLED OFF THE END AND DOWN AN EMBANKMENT WHERE IT NOSED OVER.

Full Narrative

On June 13, 1995, at 1015 central daylight time (cdt), a Cessna T210M, N112YM, nosed over after after running off the end of runway 09 (2,900'x 40') at Brookeridge Aero, Downers Grove, Illinois. The 14 CFR Part 91 flight was not operating on a flight plan. The airplane was substantially damaged. The private-instrument rated pilot and the CFI on board were not injured. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed for the flight. The flight originated from Downers Grove, Illinois, at 0830 cdt. The pilot reported, "Upon landing and braking, aircraft could not be slowed enough to avoid going off end of runway." The airplane traveled off the end of the runway and down an embankment. The nose gear separated from the airplane and the airplane nosed over. The CFI on board the airplane stated that the airplane landed long on the runway prior to travelling off the end. A witness stated that the airplane was approximately 20 feet off the ground when it traveled past her window which is 1,250' from the east end of the runway. The CFI was on board the airplane to provide recurrent instrument training. The private-instrument pilot who was flying the airplane when the accident occurred stated that he was pilot-in- command of the airplane.
