About

Aviation safety reports, made easier to study

NTSB Reports is an independent research and search tool for public aviation accident and incident records. It brings NTSB aviation reports, structured fields, docket files, extracted figures, photos, videos, and update history into one searchable interface.

The goal is practical safety education: make it faster to find relevant investigations, compare similar events, review factual records, and understand the evidence behind probable-cause and preliminary reports.

The investigative work and source records belong to the National Transportation Safety Board and the published investigation record. This site is not affiliated with or endorsed by the NTSB.

Full Narrative

On August 12, 1995 at 1345 central daylight time, a Cessna F182RG, N34SJ was substantially damaged while landing near Lakeview, Arkansas. The private pilot and his three passengers were not injured. The flight originated in Dallas, Texas, at approximately 1145. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed for the personal cross country flight, conducted under Title 14 CFR Part 91. A flight plan was not filed for the flight. Witnesses at the private airstrip observed the airplane coming in "too fast and too high to land" on the 2,200 foot grass airstrip. According to witnesses interviewed by the Baxter County Sheriff Department and the Arkansas State Police, the airplane touched beyond the mid-field point on Runway 24, bounced 3 or 4 times before control was lost and the airplane departed the left side of the runway. Before coming to rest on the left side of the airstrip, the airplane impacted light poles, four parked vehicles, and bushes.
