Aviation safety reports, made easier to study

NTSB Reports is an independent research and search tool for public aviation accident and incident records. It brings NTSB aviation reports, structured fields, docket files, extracted figures, photos, videos, and update history into one searchable interface.

The goal is practical safety education: make it faster to find relevant investigations, compare similar events, review factual records, and understand the evidence behind probable-cause and preliminary reports.

The investigative work and source records belong to the National Transportation Safety Board and the published investigation record. This site is not affiliated with or endorsed by the NTSB.

Full Narrative

On August 19, 1995, about 1600 Pacific daylight time, N11834, a Cessna 177B, operated by the owner/pilot, collided with a fence during landing at Yamhill, Oregon, and was substantially damaged. The private pilot and his passenger were not injured. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed and no flight plan had been filed. The personal flight departed from Scappoose, Oregon, and was destined for Yamhill. The flight was conducted under 14 CFR 91. The pilot reported that while on final approach for runway 25, the late afternoon sun and a slightly smokey windshield resulted in the pilot temporarily losing sight of the runway. Just prior to touchdown, the airplane collided with a fence post short of the runway. After the airplane touched down, it nosed over and came to rest inverted.
