Aviation safety reports, made easier to study

NTSB Reports is an independent research and search tool for public aviation accident and incident records. It brings NTSB aviation reports, structured fields, docket files, extracted figures, photos, videos, and update history into one searchable interface.

The goal is practical safety education: make it faster to find relevant investigations, compare similar events, review factual records, and understand the evidence behind probable-cause and preliminary reports.

The investigative work and source records belong to the National Transportation Safety Board and the published investigation record. This site is not affiliated with or endorsed by the NTSB.

Full Narrative

On September 22, 1995, about 1700 Alaska daylight time, a tail- wheel converted Cessna 150 airplane, N4430U, sustained substantial damage while landing at an off airport site located approximately 50 miles northeast of Coldfoot, Alaska. The solo commercial certificated pilot was not injured. The business flight operated in visual meteorological conditions under 14 CFR Part 91 without a flight plan. The purpose of the flight was for the pilot/registered hunting guide to recover game and clients from a remote hunting site. The pilot stated in a telephone conversation on September 27 with the NTSB investigator-in-charge that while he was landing at the 550' long site, he lost directional control and the airplane flipped upside down. He said that there was no preimpact mechanical problems with the airplane.
