Aviation safety reports, made easier to study

NTSB Reports is an independent research and search tool for public aviation accident and incident records. It brings NTSB aviation reports, structured fields, docket files, extracted figures, photos, videos, and update history into one searchable interface.

The goal is practical safety education: make it faster to find relevant investigations, compare similar events, review factual records, and understand the evidence behind probable-cause and preliminary reports.

The investigative work and source records belong to the National Transportation Safety Board and the published investigation record. This site is not affiliated with or endorsed by the NTSB.

Full Narrative

On March 24, 1996, about 1000 eastern standard time, a Cessna 150F, N6679F, registered to an individual and operated by Tom McGhee Aircraft, was damaged during landing at Ocala Regional Airport, Ocala, Florida, while on a 14 CFR Part 91 instructional flight. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time and a visual flight rules flight plan was filed. The aircraft received substantial damage and the student-rated pilot was not injured. The flight originated from Winter Haven, Florida, the same day about 0900. The student pilot stated that he was on a solo cross-country flight. The Ocala unicom operator reported the winds were from 120 degrees at 6 knots gusting to 10 and that runway 18 was active. During the landing flare on runway 18 the left wing began to lift up and the right wing tip hit the runway. He continued the landing and taxied to the ramp where he observed the damage. When he arrived at the ramp the wind was now at 090 degrees at 8-10 knots gusting to 20.
