Aviation safety reports, made easier to study

NTSB Reports is an independent research and search tool for public aviation accident and incident records. It brings NTSB aviation reports, structured fields, docket files, extracted figures, photos, videos, and update history into one searchable interface.

The goal is practical safety education: make it faster to find relevant investigations, compare similar events, review factual records, and understand the evidence behind probable-cause and preliminary reports.

The investigative work and source records belong to the National Transportation Safety Board and the published investigation record. This site is not affiliated with or endorsed by the NTSB.

Full Narrative

On June 19, 1993, at 1345 Alaska daylight time, a wheel equipped Cessna 207 airplane, N 9869M, registered to and operated by MarkAir Express of Anchorage, Alaska, ran off the left side of the runway during the landing roll at Grayling, Alaska. The air taxi flight, operating under 14 CFR Part 135, departed Aniak, Alaska, and the destination was Grayling. A company VFR flight plan was filed and visual meteorological conditions prevailed. The Commercial Certificated Pilot-in-Command, the sole occupant, was not injured and the airplane received substantial damage. According to the Pilot-in-Command the landing was normal and when he applied brakes the right brake pedal went "soft." He was unable to stop the airplane before running off the left side of the runway. Examination of the airplane and the right brake caliper showed that the piston and "O" ring had popped out of the caliper and the brake hydraulic brake fluid leaked out.
