THE PILOT SAID THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO LAND IN A GUSTY CROSSWIND, DIRECTIONAL CONTROL WAS NOT MAINTAINED. THE AIRCRAFT CAREENED DOWN AN EMBANKMENT RESULTING IN SUBSTANTIAL GEAR AND WING DAMAGE.
