Aviation safety reports, made easier to study

NTSB Reports is an independent research and search tool for public aviation accident and incident records. It brings NTSB aviation reports, structured fields, docket files, extracted figures, photos, videos, and update history into one searchable interface.

The goal is practical safety education: make it faster to find relevant investigations, compare similar events, review factual records, and understand the evidence behind probable-cause and preliminary reports.

The investigative work and source records belong to the National Transportation Safety Board and the published investigation record. This site is not affiliated with or endorsed by the NTSB.

Full Narrative

On September 13, 1999, about 1235 eastern daylight time, a Piper PA-32-300, N2145N, registered to Smittys Ship Store Inc., operating as a 14 CFR Part 91 flight, crashed on landing rollout at a private airfield. The airplane sustained substantial damage. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed and no flight plan was filed. The commercial pilot reported no injuries. The flight originated from Dade-County Homestead General Airport, Homestead, Florida, about 5 minutes before the accident. The pilot stated he landed long and fast on the grass runway to the east. He saw wires on the departure end of the runway and elected not to make a go-around. The airplane went off the end of the runway and collided with a fence post and tree clippings. The nose gear collapsed and the leading edge of the wing was damaged.
