CLIMBING THROUGH 4,000 FT THE ENGINE FAILED. EMERGENCY PROCEDURES RESULTED IN A MOMENTARY RESTORATION OF POWER PRIOR TO THE FORCED LANDING. DURING FINAL APPROACH THE LEFT WING STRUCK A TREE.
