About

Aviation safety reports, made easier to study

NTSB Reports is an independent research and search tool for public aviation accident and incident records. It brings NTSB aviation reports, structured fields, docket files, extracted figures, photos, videos, and update history into one searchable interface.

The goal is practical safety education: make it faster to find relevant investigations, compare similar events, review factual records, and understand the evidence behind probable-cause and preliminary reports.

The investigative work and source records belong to the National Transportation Safety Board and the published investigation record. This site is not affiliated with or endorsed by the NTSB.

Full Narrative

On June 29, 2003, at 1940 eastern standard time, a Cessna 172H, N3832R, piloted by a private pilot, sustained substantial damage when it impacted a deer while landing on runway 28 (4,400 feet by 60 feet, asphalt) at Plymouth Municipal Airport (C65), Plymouth, Indiana. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time of the accident. The pilot and his passenger were uninjured. The 14 CFR Part 91 personal flight was not operating on a flight plan. The flight departed Warsaw Municipal Airport, Warsaw, Indiana, at 1915 with an intended destination of the Griffith-Merrillville Airport, Griffith, Indiana. The pilot stated he landed normally and the deer "darted" onto the runway impacting the airplane's right stabilizer and elevator tip. The stabilizer was bent upward and aft, and the tail section of the airplane was bent about 30 degrees to the left. The pilot reported no mechanical malfunctions or defects.
