On May 17, 2010, about 0715 Universal Time Coordinated (UTC), a Robinson R-44 II helicopter, RP-C2550, impacted a home in the Jael Subdivision Brgy Iyam, Lucena City, Philippines. The pilot and his three passengers were killed in the accident, along with one individual on the ground. The helicopter, which was owned and operated by the Governor of Quezon Province, was reported as being totally consumed by the post-crash fire. The helicopter, which had a planned destination of Manila Domestic Airport, departed the oval field at the Lucena City National High School, and crashed about one nautical mile upwind from its point of departure. The meteorological conditions have not yet been reported. The investigation is under the jurisdiction of the Government of the Philippines, which has not as yet released further details of the accident sequence.
