On September 30, 2010, about 0844 local/1144 UTC, a Robinson R44 II, Brazilian registration PR-CCO, registered to and operated by a private individual, was landed in rugged terrain near Davinopolis, State of Maranhao, Brazil. Weather conditions and flight plan information is unknown for the non U.S., non-commercial flight from Prefeito Renato Mereira/Imperatriz Airport (SBIZ), to Davinopolis Airport (SIME). The helicopter was destroyed and the pilot, the sole occupant was killed. The time of departure from SBIZ has not been determined. According to preliminary information, while landing in rugged terrain, the main rotor contacted the ground and a fire ensured. The helicopter was destroyed. The investigation is under the jurisdiction of the Government of Brazil.
