On March 6, 2012, about 1400 universal coordinated time, a Piper PA-28R-200, Brazilian registration PT-NKS, was destroyed when it impacted terrain, following a loss of control during cruise flight near Eliseu Martins, Brazil. The foreign certificated pilot and two passengers were fatally injured. The flight departed Aueroporto Nossa Senhora de Fatima (SWLE), Belem, Brazil; destined for Bom Jesus do Gurgueia (SNGG), Gurgueia, Brazil. This accident investigation is under the jurisdiction of the Aeronautical Accident Prevention and Investigation Center (CENIPA) of Brazil.
