On August 8, 2014, about 2215 coordinated universal time, a Piper PA-25-260, Colombian registration HK1680, was substantially damaged when it impacted terrain near Tolimo, Colombia. The pilot was seriously injured. The local aerial application flight was conducted under Colombian flight regulations. According to preliminary information from the Government of Colombia, the airplane was flying low as the pilot was preparing to apply spray. The cockpit control stick then separated, resulting in a loss of control and collision with terrain. The investigation is under the jurisdiction of the Government of Colombia.
