On July 14, 2015 at about 0832 universal coordinated time, an Airbus A330-300, HL8282, operated by Asiana Airlines experienced No. 2 (right) engine fire and oil pressure warnings shortly after takeoff from Incheon International Airport (ICN), Incheon, Republic of Korea. The crew shutdown the No. 2 engine, returned to ICN and made an uneventful single engine landing. During an inspection of the No. 2 engine, thermal damage and sooting was observed along the bottom half of the engine and on the engine cowls. The flight was a regularly scheduled flight from ICN to Tashkent Airport (TAS), Tashkent, Uzebekistan. The investigation is being conducted by the Aviation and Railway Accident Investigation Board, Republic of Korea (KARAIB). The NTSB has appointed an accredited representative to assist KARAIB's investigation as the state of design of the airplane powerplants.
