On March 27, 2016, about 2242 universal coordinated time (UTC), a Guatemalan-registered Cessna 172N, TG-KAM, impacted terrain near the Vulcan de Fuego while en route from Tiquisate, Escuintla, to the La Aurora International Airport (MGGT), Guatemala City, Guatemala. The pilot and one passenger were fatally injured. The investigation is under the jurisdiction of the Government of Guatemala.
