On June 23, 2016, about 2259 UTC, a Discovery Aviation, Incorporated, Liberty XL-2, Honduran registration HR-HZT, owned and operated by Horizontes Flight School was destroyed when it impacted the roof of a house in a residential neighborhood near La Lima, Honduras, while performing a takeoff from a touch-and-go landing at the Ramon Villeda Morales International Airport (MHLM), San Pedro Sula, Honduras. The instructor pilot and dual student on board were fatally injured. Day visual meteorological conditions prevailed for the foreign, non-scheduled, instructional flight which originated at MHLM. This investigation is under the jurisdiction of the government of Honduras.
