On July 17, 2016, about 1951 Coordinated Universal Time, a Canadian registered North American Aviation T-28B airplane, C-GKKD, owned and operated by a private individual, impacted terrain near Cold Lake, Alberta, Canada, while performing aerobatic maneuvers during an airshow at Cold Lake/Group Captain R.W. McNair Airport about 7 nm south west of Cold Lake, Alberta, Canada. The airplane was destroyed, and the sole pilot was fatally injured. The accident investigation is under the jurisdiction and control of the Canadian Transportation Safety Board.
