On January 5, 2017, at 1420 universal time coordinated, a Cessna 172S airplane, Brazilian registration PR-GRS, sustained substantial damage when it struck high-tension power-lines while attempting to land at the Tangara da Serra Airport (TGQ), State of Mato Grasso, Brazil. The pilot and a passenger were fatally injured and two passengers were seriously injured. The personal flight originated at the Adalberto Mendes da Silva Airport (CAC), Cascavel, Brazil. The accident investigation is under the jurisdiction of the Brazilian government.
