On January 8, 2017, about 1741 coordinated universal time (1441 local time), a Cessna 172, Chilean registration CC-CMP, was destroyed when it collided with terrain during final approach to Tirua Airport (SCQK), Tirua, Chile. The pilot and three passengers were fatally injured. The flight originated from Isla Mocha Airport (SCHM), Isla Mocha, Chile.The investigation is under the jurisdiction of the Government of Chile.
