On September 9, 2017, at 1918 local time, a Piper PA-28-161, Spanish registration EC-JCI, had a brake failure while taxiing at Sevilla Airport, Sevilla, Spain. There were no injuries to the private pilot and one passenger, The airplane was substantially damaged. The airplane was registered to Real Aeroclub de Sevilla. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed. The flight originated from Sevilla Airport. The airplane departed the taxiway as a result of the brake failure. There was a fire on the right main landing gear and wing. The accident is under the jurisdiction and control of the Spanish government.
