On June 12, 2019, about 1330 local time, an AgustaWestland AW139 helicopter, EC-NEH, executed an emergency landing to an open field near Albarracín, Spain, for unknown reasons. The pilot and sole occupant sustained no injury, and the helicopter sustained substantial damage. The helicopter, operated by Babcock España as a positioning flight, had departed from the Alicante-Muchamiel Airfield (LEMU), Muchamiel, Spain, and was enroute to a search and rescue airbase in Gijón, Spain, when the emergency landing occurred. The accident investigation is under the jurisdiction and control of the government of Spain. This report is for information purposes only and contains only information released by or obtained from the Comisión de Investigación de Accidentes e Incidentes de Aviación Civil (CIAIAC). The NTSB has appointed a U.S. Accredited Representative to assist the CIAIAC investigation under the provisions of ICAO Annex 13 as the State of Manufacturer of the avionics system installed in the helicopter.
